Gingivitis

Gingivitis is a form of gum (periodontal) disease where bacteria in plaque build up and cause the gums to become red and swollen and may bleed easily. If left untreated, gingivitis can advance to periodontitis. A buildup of plaque related to poor oral hygiene is one of the main causes of periodontal disease. Plaque is the sticky film of bacteria that forms on the teeth, gums and tongue. It is removed with daily brushing of the teeth and flossing to reach the areas between the teeth and below the gum line. The good news is that most cases of gingivitis can be reversed with the proper care. The goal in the relief of gingivitis is plaque control.

Here are some helpful approaches to the relief of gingivitis:

  • Diet. The basis of good health is always a well-balanced diet. Proper nutrition provides the body with the nutrients we need to ensure that our immune system is functionally optimally. Taking a multivitamin may ensure your daily nutritional needs are met.

  • Don´t smoke. Smoking interferes with gum tissue repair and will affect the healing process.

  • Maintain good oral hygiene. Don´t give gingivitis a chance to develop. Brush your teeth using a soft brush and floss everyday.

  • Schedule regular dental checkups. Regular checkups ensure optimal oral health. Your dentist may also recommend professional cleanings.

If you are a diabetic, you may be predisposed to having gum disease or to having a more aggressive type of gum disease. Research has shown that gum disease negatively affects blood sugar levels because bacterial infections alter the metabolism and can create problems in controlling blood sugar levels. Diabetics must be vigilant with their oral hygiene and have regular, thorough dental examinations of their gum tissue.

    CoQ10 - Twin Pack

CoQ10 (Coenzyme Q10) is a micronutrient essential to all human life. It is a naturally occurring nutrient that works as a co-factor in the body’s electron transport system where all of the body’s energy is derived. CoQ10 regulates the flow of oxygen moving in and out of the mitochondria, which are the cell’s power plants. The body’s cellular power plants can’t function without CoQ10.

Declines in CoQ10 levels occur with advancing age and appear to be correlated with deterioration of the immune system. Supplementation with CoQ10 could help to boost energy levels, strengthen and protect the heart and blood vessels, enhance the immune system and protect against free radical damage.

Like all muscles, the heart needs adequate energy to contract, and CoQ10 facilitates the production of that energy. In those with coronary heart disease, supplementation may reduce the frequency of angina episodes and increases the amount of physical exercise that a person can perform before developing angina pain. Tissues that need the largest amounts of CoQ10, like the heart, are those that require the most energy.

    Ester-C® Complex

Ester-C® is a patented, non-acidic form of vitamin C. Ester-C® Complex is the most advanced form of vitamin C available. Ester-C® has a neutral pH that helps protect you from the stomach upset that can accompany other vitamin C products.

Ester-C® is different from ordinary or buffered vitamin C because it is processed in purified water instead of solvents which makes it a purer form of vitamin C. It contains calcium threonate, making this form of vitamin C four times more bioavailable than other forms of vitamin C.

Vitamin C is an important antioxidant and free radical scavenger. Free radicals are incomplete atoms or molecules that are the natural by-products of everyday metabolic, detoxification, and immune system processes. These unstable compounds attack nearby molecules in an attempt to become complete. Antioxidants like vitamin C are the body’s natural defense system against free radicals. Antioxidants are molecules that can safely neutralize these harmful substances helping to promote cell health and support against cellular damage that could lead to disease.

Vitamin C also plays important roles in helping to protect HDL cholesterol, or “good cholesterol” from free radical damage. Healthy amounts of HDL have been shown to produce cardiovascular benefits and promote heart health.

    MSM, OptiMSM™

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring sulfur compound found in the normal diets of humans and virtually all other vertebrates. In its purified chemical form, it is an odorless, tasteless, white, water-soluble, crystalline solid. When broken apart by the body, MSM donates sulfur to produce the new compounds required for for use by the body in a variety of functions. MSM is the stable end-product of the methyl-S-methane series of compounds that provide all life with a dominant amount of bio-available sulfur.

Sulfur is one of the essential minerals, ranked as a macronutrient in the vertebrate diet. Earlier methionine work and ongoing MSM research indicates that it is the structure of the sulfur donor molecule, not the amount of sulfur, that is critical.

MSM is a form of sulfur found in the tissues and fluids and is the major form of sulfur in the human body. It is an important nutrient for joint tissue where it functions in the stabilization of the connective tissue matrix of cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. It is also important in the health and function of the hair, nails, skin, connective tissue, enzymes, hormones and immunoglobulins. Without adequate and properly delivered sulfur, life functions would cease.

MSM deficiencies have been shown to be associated with inflammatory problems, gastrointestinal dysfunction, slow wound healing, brittle toenails and fingernails, immune system problems, brittle hair, acne and rashes.
